The Sharks was one of the first South African rugby unions to embrace
professionalism in rugby from a healthcare perspective. This originated with
the formation of The Sharks Healthcare Management Committee in 1999 which
ensured that the right structures and processes were put in place to ensure
that the medical needs of the contracted players were met in the most evidence
based and cost efficient manner.
